The people who read a healthcare brand are worried, in a hurry, or both. Medical and life-science brands are read by clinicians, buyers and funders who check everything. Either way the brand is applied by people who aren’t designers, so healthcare branding has to be plain enough to trust and simple enough to survive a busy team. It also has to hold across more kinds of thing than most: a board strategy document, a clinic poster, a product brochure, a research report, a website, the sign on a corridor wall. We work out what needs fixing first, then design the mark, the type, the colour and the rules.
Locala, a community interest company running NHS and local authority health services, came to us for a website in 2017, agreed to a rebrand before it went live, and has stayed nine years, from board-level strategy documents down to corridor signs, with their reports from 2020 to 2025 and guidelines their own team applies. Rare Disease Research UK needed a hub at Newcastle and eleven research nodes to look like one platform, so we designed the identity, the guidelines with a lockup for each node, and a website built by Gold Top. For Altomed, who supply instruments to eye surgeons, we designed the brochure and the website.

A free audit of your brand out in the world: the website, the print, the signage, the templates your own team fills in. We do the work, then walk you through it.
You don’t need a brief. A name, an email and a few lines about where things stand is enough. We’ll come back with questions, and tell you plainly how we can help.
