Crushing is a brand and design studio in West Yorkshire.
We’ve been building brands since 2013, and we tend to stay long after launch, so the newest piece of work should still look like it belongs with the first.
That comes from twenty years in the industry, working on brands including adidas, The North Face and Uber. Now, you work directly with the people doing the thinking and making, from the first conversation to the work in use.
Crushing is a close core with a trusted network around it. The lead hands stay on the work, and the right specialist joins when the brief needs one.
The name comes from Canal Crushing, a Sheffield titanium plant where material was crushed and graded with force and precision. We like that pairing: the big decisions made clearly, and the small details done properly even when nobody is looking for them.
The colour system comes from the same place, the colours titanium turns under heat.
Crushing Creative is a design studio in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, working since 2013. We are not connected to Crush Creative in Brighton, or to any other studio with a similar name.
James Foster
Graphic Designer
James is the founder and creative director of Crushing. He has over 20 years of experience across brand, print and digital, working with businesses in the UK and internationally.
Trained in graphic design and illustration at the London College of Fashion, James began in fashion print before working inside a printer’s studio. That experience still shapes the work: a brand has to work beyond the screen, from the smallest label to the largest stand.
Today, he works with clients to shape brands and carry them into the world through design, print and digital. Much of that work comes from long relationships, with clients who came for one job and are still here years later.
Plus a roster of specialists we bring in by discipline, and Gold Top Collective, the web studio our founder co-owns, who build the websites we design.
Retail and shopper marketing, visual merchandising and campaign work, some direct and some alongside the agencies that held the account.
A free audit of your brand out in the world: the website, the print, the signage, the templates your own team fills in. We do the work, then walk you through it.
You don’t need a brief. A name, an email and a few lines about where things stand is enough. We’ll come back with questions, and tell you plainly how we can help.
