Drinks branding

Priory Gin bottle on a table

How we approach drinks branding

On a shelf, a drinks brand gets one label's width next to the big names. Then the range grows: a flavour with a long name, a gin, a can, a gift box, and each has to fit a label system drawn for the first bottle. Good drinks branding plans for that from the start, with a mark that still reads on a miniature and type that can take Salted Caramel without losing its shape. We design the mark, the label and the rules that let the range keep growing.

Priory Farm grow their own potatoes in Yorkshire and make vodka from them. In 2017 they had the vodka and no brand. We designed the mark, an arch of blocks taken from the twelfth-century Priory, with the name running tall up a narrow bottle, and the guidelines, so anyone they brought in later could apply it without guessing. The quality stamp works in one colour, so it goes on glass as well as paper. From 2020 the range grew into sixteen flavoured vodkas, limoncello, two cocktail cans and a gift box, then a gin and a rum on the same label system. Every one of them still carries the arch.
